Human-Made Art Policy

1. The core rule

Artwork published on Artāwhai must be created through human creative authorship. AI-generated artwork is not accepted.

2. Tools that remain compatible

Artists may use ordinary physical and digital tools that support their own creative decisions, including cameras, scanners, editing software, digital brushes, colour correction and accessibility tools. Administrative AI may be used for tasks such as spelling support or platform tagging, provided it does not generate the artwork itself.

3. What is not accepted

Artāwhai does not accept images or substantial visual elements generated by text-to-image, image-to-image or similar generative AI systems and then presented as human-made artwork. Adding minor manual changes to predominantly AI-generated output does not make it eligible.

4. Artist declaration

Artists must declare that each upload is human-made and that they created it or hold authority to publish it. That declaration becomes part of the artwork’s Artāwhai record.

5. Verification during beta

The beta currently combines artist declarations, platform records, community reporting and manual review. Automated detection may later be used only as a supporting signal, not as the sole judge. A record marked “artist-declared human-made” is not the same as an independent forensic certification.

6. Review and action

Artāwhai may request process information, temporarily hide a work, reject it or remove it where there is a credible concern. Artists should have a fair opportunity to respond unless immediate action is needed to protect people, rights or the platform.

7. Cultural and collective authorship

Artists must not claim sole authority over culturally restricted, community-owned or collectively authored material where they do not hold that authority. Context shared by artists should be accurate and respectful.

8. Report a concern

Use the support and reporting page and include the artwork link and relevant evidence.
